The former host of “The Tonight Show,” Jay Leno, has confirmed to Variety that he is in stable condition despite having sustained “severe burns” as a result of a gasoline fire. According to a statement released by Leno, he added, “I got some nasty burns from a gasoline fire.” I am ok. I should be back on my feet in a week or two at the most.

According to TMZ, Leno was taken to the hospital on Sunday when a fire broke out in the vehicle garage that he owns in Los Angeles. Reportedly, one of the vehicles caught fire, and Leno was left with burns on his face as a result of the incident. Leno was treated for his injuries at the Grossman Burn Center

People magazine was the first publication to break the story of Leno’s health. The comedian was supposed to take part in a financial conference in Las Vegas on Sunday, but he was forced to cancel his participation due to a “severe medical issue.” At the time, Leno’s face burns were not disclosed.

After Johnny Carson’s retirement, Jay Leno took over as host of “The Tonight Show” on NBC. Leno had previously held this position from 1992 to 2009. Both programs suffered from poor ratings, which resulted in NBC’s infamous decision to reinstate Leno as the host of “The Tonight Show” in March of 2010. Leno left the gig to start his own NBC primetime talk show, “The Jay Leno Show,” and Conan O’Brien stepped in as the new host of “The Tonight Show.” Leno continued to host the late-night program for another four years until he officially announced his retirement on February 6, 2014. Jimmy Fallon has taken over for Leno as the nightly host.

In addition to hosting “The Tonight Show,” Jay Leno debuted his series “Jay Leno’s Garage” on CNBC in the year 2015. The television program has thus far aired a total of 88 episodes during its seven seasons of production. At the end of October, “Jay Leno’s Garage” broadcast its final episode of its seventh season. Leno also took over as the new host of the revived version of “You Bet Your Life” beginning in the year 2021.
